Jesus: I AM; Part 1

Who is Jesus really? How does the Jesus of the New Testament compare to the Jesus we think we know so well? What bout His teachings, His miracles, His death and resurrection--who He was and why He came? In this series, we're going to put our preconceptions aside and take a long look at the Jesus described in the book of John. From the manger in Bethlehem to the cross in Jerusalem, we're going to see Jesus complex character who generates questions as well as answers; a disturbing and exhilarating Jesus who wants to radically transform your life and stretch your faith. Because no one who meets Jesus ever stays the same.

Selling Souls on eBay: Involved

People all over the world in recent months have posted ads on eBay to sell their souls to the highest bidder. More and more people are open and searching spiritually, but we have to be willing to invest in other people's lives by spending time with them and start to dialogue with them about God. Are you wiling to invest in someone's life and invite them to meet Jesus Christ

Spaces: Someday

Our life is defined by spaces. The length of our life is defined by spaces - the spaces on a calendar. For 2009, all of us have 365 spaces that we will fill with something. Every one of those spaces represents another day. Every space has a number to tell me which day of the month I'm in at the moment. Every square is a frame for one episode of my life. The reality is that we all complain that we need more time, but we all have 24 hours of space that we fill with something. What are you filling you spaces with? Join us for the month of January as we talk about Spaces.

Spaces: Payday

Our life is defined by spaces. The length of our life is defined by spaces - the spaces on a calendar. For 2009, all of us have 365 spaces that we will fill with something. Every one of those spaces represents another day. Every space has a number to tell me which day of the month I'm in at the moment. Every square is a frame for one episode of my life. The reality is that we all complain that we need more time, but we all have 24 hours of space that we fill with something. What are you filling you spaces with? Join us for the month of January as we talk about Spaces.

Did you know that the root word of relilgion means bondage? God did not send Jesus Christ to put us in bondage, but to set us free. Religion is really man's attempt to please God by adhering to the rules and regulations, but that's not what God is after at all.
Adding or Subtracting Value

Words hold incredible power: the power to hurt or the power to heal. They have shaped our childhood, marriages, work enviornments, the way we view ourselves and our confidence. All of us have had moments when we wish we could reach out and retrieve the words that just left our tongue. And all of us have had our lives shaped by the words spoken to us. Over and over again we are reminded of their power and how one of the most important skills we can learn is to learn how to constantly monitor them.

Lost

One of the amazing things about Jesus was that even though He was a religious person, He spent very little time with religious people. Although He was a righteous person, He always spent time with unrighteous people. And even though Jesus claimed to have come from God, He spent very little time pursuing relationships with godly people. Why was Jesus so attracted to people who were nothing like Him? And why were people who were nothing like Him so attracted to Jesus? I believe the answer to that question will determine out future at oneChurch.

Greater things are yet to come, for He is the God of this city..." We believe that here at oneChurch.
WE

When we learn grammar, pronouns seem like such little, inconsequential parts of speech. Much of the language we use to descrie spiritual journey today is wrapped around the little word I. But God wants us to be in community with others. so to be involved in what god is doing, we have to move from the first person singular to the first person plural: I to we. When we move from I to we, there is nothing that God cannot do through us!

Fighting Fair

Disagreements are going to occur. And having conflict doesn’t mean you have an unhealthy marriage. The fact is that if you never have any conflict or disagreements, then the marriage isn’t healthy because one partner has cowered to the BIG ME in MarriagE. Just as we have mentioned that marriage is a covenant and not a contract, marriage is also not a competition to she who can win the most arguments. Conflict can bring understanding, but only if you fight fair. Today we’re going to learn that how you argue—especially how you end an argument—can determine the long-term success or failure of your marriage.

Cares

We have been talking about marriage for the past 2 weeks in our new sermon series entitled Summer Lovin’. We have learned that as long as you continue to place expectations on your spouse you have a debt/debtor relationship that will crowd out love and intimacy. In order to experience marriage as God designed it you must transform your expectations back to desire. But then what? You're still left with all these unfulfilled hopes, dreams, and needs. We must learn to look to God as the ultimate satisfier of our desires, not our spouse. We must develop the habit of casting our cares on Him.

I.O.U.

Expectations in marriage create a debt/debtor relationship that resembles more of a contract between two parties than a covenant between two people. The result of this is that your spouse feels like they never measure up and they are never good enough. Your marriage becomes devoid of love and joy. So what are you to do? You can't deny your expectations-after all, they started out as God-given desires. Instead you must learn to transform your expectations back into desires. You must get to a place where you decide that your spouse doesn't owe you anything and that you owe them everything.

The ME in MarriagE

Marriage. Everybody's is different. Every marriage contains a unique blend of personalities, a unique history, a unique set of circumstances, a unique set of problems, and a unique set of joys. Despite the fact that every marriage is different, there are certain aspects of marriage that affect us all in the same way. There are some universal constants wired into us as people and into the nature of relationships. One of these universals is the power of expectations. As we'll see today, understanding how expectations work will have a huge effect on the relationship between you and your spouse

He Has First Place

So many of us live our lives out of focus. We have blurry ideas. We’re confused about what we should do. And we have fuzzy beliefs about God. If your beliefs are a little off, then you life and actions will be way off. In the book of Colossians, we learn that when you get a clear view of who Jesus is, then the rest of your live will sharpen and you will find great clarity and focus. Are you ready to see clearly?

In a meeting. At dinner. Driving down the road. No matter when or where you hear the familiar "ding" on your cell phone, a text message gets your immediate attention. You're compelled to pull the phone out of your pocket and read it. But what if God sent you a text message?
In this part series, Chris says that God has, in fact, sent you a message--it's called the Bible. And though we jump at the sound of a text from a friend, we tend to ignore the message God sent us in His Word. In this amazing collection of writings, you'll find poetry, prophecy, biography, war, sex, and betrayal. And most importantly, you'll find the story of a loving Father who goes to incredible lengths to redeem his children. The message is waiting. Have you read it?
